Web design
This is how a website looks and feels.
It includes things like:

  • layout
  • colors
  • fonts
  • images
  • buttons
  • overall style
  • user experience

Example: making a roofing company site look clean, trustworthy, and easy to use.

Web development
This is how a website actually works behind the scenes.
It includes:

  • coding
  • contact forms
  • custom features
  • databases
  • logins
  • speed optimization
  • making pages function properly

Example: building the quote form so it sends leads to email or a CRM.

eCommerce
This is a website built to sell products or services online.
It usually includes:

  • product pages
  • shopping cart
  • checkout
  • payment processing
  • shipping setup
  • inventory
  • order management

Example: an online store selling shirts, supplements, or digital courses.

Website maintenance
This is the ongoing work to keep a website updated, secure, and running smoothly.
It includes:

This is business phone setup for calling, voicemail, forwarding, extensions, and team communication.
It can include:

  • extensions
  • call recording
  • VoIP systems

Example: when someone calls your company, it says “Press 1 for sales, 2 for support.”

Networking
This is the setup of the internet and device connections inside a home or business.
It includes:

  • Wi-Fi
  • ethernet cabling
  • printers
  • shared devices
  • firewalls
  • server connections

Example: making sure all office computers, phones, and printers connect properly and securely.

A simple way to think about it:

  • Web design = appearance
  • Web development = functionality
  • eCommerce = online selling
  • website maintenance = ongoing upkeep
  • phone systems = business calling setup
  • networking = internet/device connection setup


    “Powered by AI”
    means the product or service uses artificial intelligence to help it work.

    Usually, it means AI is doing one or more of these things:

    • understanding language
    • making predictions
    • recognizing images or speech
    • automating tasks
    • giving recommendations
    • generating text, images, or responses

    Examples:

    • A chatbot that answers questions = powered by AI
    • A website builder that writes content for you = powered by AI
    • A phone system that transcribes calls or responds automatically = powered by AI

    It does not always mean the whole thing is AI.
    Sometimes it just means one feature inside it uses AI.

    So in plain English:

    “Powered by AI” = “this tool uses artificial intelligence to help do its job.”


    “Automated” means something happens by itself based on fixed rules or preset steps without needing someone to do it manually every time.

    Usually, it means automation is doing one or more of these things:

    • following pre-set instructions
    • repeating tasks automatically
    • sending messages or actions on schedule
    • moving data from one place to another
    • triggering actions when something happens
    • reducing manual work

    Examples:

    • An email that sends automatically after someone fills out a form = automated
    • A billing system that sends invoices every month = automated
    • A phone menu that routes calls to the right department = automated

    It does not always mean the system is intelligent.
    Sometimes it is just following simple rules.

    So in plain English:

    “Automated” = “this process runs by itself based on rules or set steps.”


    “Machine learning” means a system learns from data and improves how it performs instead of only following hard-coded instructions.

    Usually, it means machine learning is doing one or more of these things:

    • finding patterns in data
    • learning from past examples
    • improving predictions over time
    • identifying trends
    • making recommendations based on behavior
    • adjusting results based on new information

    Examples:

    • A system that recommends videos based on what people watch = machine learning
    • A fraud detection system that gets better at spotting suspicious activity = machine learning
    • A spam filter that improves as it sees more spam emails = machine learning

    It does not always mean the system thinks like a person.
    Sometimes it just means it gets better by learning from data.

    So in plain English:

    “Machine learning” = “the system learns from data and gets better over time.”

    “UI/UX Design” means designing how a website, app, or digital platform looks and how it feels for people to use.

    Usually it means UI/UX Design is doing one or more of these things:

    • designing the layout
    • choosing colors, fonts, and visual styles
    • making buttons, menus, and pages easy to use
    • improving how people move through the site or app
    • making the experience feel smooth and clear
    • helping users find what they need without confusion

    Examples:

    • A website with clean buttons, clear sections, and easy navigation = UI/UX Design
    • A mobile app that feels simple and smooth to use = UI/UX Design
    • A checkout page designed to help people buy without getting confused = UI/UX Design

    It does not only mean making something look nice.
    It also means making sure it works well for the user.

    So in plain English:

    “UI/UX Design” = “making a digital product look good and feel easy to use.”


    “Graphic Designing” means creating visual content to help a business, brand, or message stand out and communicate clearly.

    Usually it means Graphic Designing is doing one or more of these things:

    • creating logos
    • designing banners and advertisements
    • making flyers, brochures, or business cards
    • creating social media graphics
    • building branded visual materials
    • using images, colors, and text to grab attention

    Examples:

    • A logo made for a business = Graphic Designing
    • A flyer for an event or promotion = Graphic Designing
    • A social media post designed to look professional and eye-catching = Graphic Designing

    It does not always mean designing a website or app.
    Sometimes it just means creating visual materials people see online or in print.

    So in plain English:
